Job Summary

At Rising Dawn Studios, the Narrative Designer/Writer is central to crafting immersive stories that captivate players. This role involves shaping character arcs, building compelling dialogue, and collaborating closely with the game development team to ensure the narrative seamlessly integrates with gameplay. The ideal candidate will bring a passion for storytelling and a deep understanding of narrative design in video games.

Compensation

Estimated Annual Salary Range: $49,000 – $55,000 annually (depending on experience and qualifications).

Responsibilities

  • Develop engaging storylines, character biographies, and dialogue that enhance player experience.

  • Collaborate with game designers, artists, and developers to align narrative elements with gameplay.

  • Ensure the story evolves based on player choices and game mechanics.

  • Write and edit scripts, quests, in-game text, and lore documentation.

  • Participate in narrative reviews, providing feedback and making revisions as needed.

  • Create compelling backstories that enrich the game's world and characters.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Creative Writing, Literature, Game Design, or related field (preferred).

  • 2+ years of experience in narrative design, game writing, or a similar role.

  • Demonstrated experience in writing for video games, including interactive storytelling.

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency with narrative design tools (e.g., Twine, Ink, Articy Draft) and game engines like Unity or Unreal Engine.

  • Strong grasp of branching narrative structures and player-driven storytelling.

  • Familiarity with version control software (e.g., Git).

Soft Skills

  • Exceptional storytelling and writing skills, including dialogue, pacing, and tone.

  • Ability to collaborate across disciplines and incorporate feedback effectively.

  • Strong organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
